DRAFT LOTTERYA quick primer and recap, as I was confused also. The Draft Lottery, to be held this Saturday, August 3, 9pm EST, is conducted based on reverse power ranking. The teams that didn't make the playoffs the previous season get a weighted chance to win the number one overall selection in the upcoming draft. Note: Just the first overall pick, afterwards the draft reverts to reverse order of standing.
The better a team finished last season while still missing the post-season, the better their odds are of winning the lottery. There's no incentive to tank in Maize and Blue!
For example, last year, Human Amoebas were first in the non-playoff teams' 2012 Final Power Rankings. That translates to them having the best shot at winning the lottery. P Funk All-Stars, who had the worst overall record in the league, has the worst shot at winning the lottery.
Add in traded picks and the odds could change, of course. Please see below.

- Slow draft begins Wednesday, Aug 14, 8:00am EST (via CBS Draft Room), continues for three weeks. We elected to draft via automated CBS but play on ESPN.
